RICHMOND, Va. — A small group of demonstrators toppled a statue of a Confederate general in the the former capital of the Confederacy late Saturday, following a day of largely peaceful protests in the Virginia city. The statue of Gen. Williams Carter Wickham was pulled from its pedestal in Monroe Park, a Richmond police spokeswoman said. She said she did not know if there were any arrests or damage done to the statue. A rope had been tied around the Confederate statue, which has stood since 1891,  The Richmond Times-Dispatch  reported, adding that someone urinated on the statue after it was pulled down. Photos and video from the newspaper showed the what appeared to be red paint splashed or sprayed on the statue. Police out to enforce curfew in Buffalo, New York, shoved an older man Thursday evening, causing him to fall backward and audibly hit his head on the pavement, Buffalo NPR affiliate WBFO reports . Blood ran from the man's head as he lay motionless, and the cops who pushed him glanced down and walked on. The unidentified man, treated by two medics, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and is in stable condition, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz tweeted Thursday night. A spokesman for the Buffalo Police Department issued a statement Thursday night saying that during a "skirmish invoking protesters, one person was injured when he tripped and fell." The one-year-old girl named Skye was sleeping in the house in Kidapawan City, the Philippines, when the deadly reptile entered the front yard last Friday (19/07). CCTV footage shows how the two-year-old white dachshund named Moxie immediately went over to the snake and began pawing at it. But sensing the danger, the more protective older dog, Miley, aged four, launched into a frenzied defence and picked up the monacled cobra in its jaws. The cobra made a beeline for the front door but the pair of dogs worked together - biting its tail and dragging it away from the children's toys, and the room where the girl was sleeping.
