NCIS season 17 sees Ziva David return to the CBS series. But will the character be reunited with her daughter Tali and that child’s father, Tony DiNozzo?

CBS will air the first episode of NCIS season 17 next week, which will see the return of Ziva David (played by Cote de Pablo). With Ziva coming back, fans are wondering whether she will be reunited with people like her former partner Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and their daughter, Tali (Emelia and Layla Golfieri). A recent interview with de Pablo and Gibbs star Mark Harmon included a number of hints about whether Tali will appear again in the new series of NCIS.
Will Ziva David be reunited with Tali in NCIS?
Ziva’s relationship with her family and the sacrifices she made to protect them will be central to the first two episodes of NCIS season 17.
This was hinted in de Pablo and Harmon’s interview with TV Insider earlier in September.
In this interview, de Pablo said: “I don’t think Ziva and Tony have seen each other or communicated in a long time.
“Tali was delivered to him [by Mossad], and that was the end of it.”
However, she followed this up by saying: “Don’t ask any questions,
dot-dot-dot, to be continued,” suggesting this will be central to the
upcoming episodes.
The last time we saw Tony, he was in Paris to collect Tali after Ziva “died” following an explosion at her Israeli compound.
If Ziva has not seen Tony for years, she is also unlikely to have seen her daughter since she faked her own death.
De Pablo seemed to confirm this when she said: “She’s also trying to
keep her daughter a secret and safe from the people who are trying to
get to Gibbs and to her.”
In an interview with Parade, NCIS showrunner Steven Binder said: “If you
look at the things we know; we know she had a daughter, and the
daughter was sent to live with Tony.
“It’s unknown whether or not she’s been involved with Tony or not.
“But, certainly, if she has, Tony hasn’t called the team up and said she’s alive.
“So, there would have to be something very serious hanging over her own head, not just Gibbs’.
“Just from the available facts, you can add up the idea that there’s someone out there that’s so bad, that’s so dangerous, that she had to go undercover and leave her daughter behind, at least for a period of time.”

As such, Tali will be central to Ziva’s return, though it is less certain whether she will actually appear in the series.
After all, Tali is unlikely to appear without Tony, and the actor who played him amy have been too busy to film a cameo.
When asked if Weatherly will make an appearance, Harmon said: “Michael is a little busy at the moment,” with de Pablo adding, “He’s shooting a procedural.”
Last time we saw Tali, in 2016, she was around one or two years old, meaning she would now be around five or six.
